In 2021, the charity was the salvation army!
Read about it!
In 2021 we, together, have been saving for the Salvation Army, and here I will share about the result.
But first, why the Salvation Army?
At the end of 2020 I was thinking of doing a Christmas campaign to collect money for a charity. But as I'm sometimes not that good in planning ahead it didn't worked out.. And then I got this great idea of collecting money for a charity the whole year round! ⠀
When I was overthinking which charity it would be, I didn't had to think that long. I was looking for a charity that matches the vision of Renewed Masterpieces: It's not about what it is - it's about what it can become! From something that is old, damaged, or thrown away, to a new creation, something beautiful, which can shine again in a 'renewed' life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And that is exactly what the Salvation Army wants to achieve. Giving hope today. To the poor, the damaged, the homeless and the addicted. ⠀⠀⠀
I can say very proudly that I have worked for the Salvation Army for three years. With one of the hardest client groups, but I loved it. I loved to see beauty in every single person that was living at the location where I worked. By a lot of people they where pushed away, labeled as junk, and hurt. There past was to cry about. But I love the vision of looking for the beauty and good sides of someone, and trying to help them overcome there past so they can shine again, in there 'renewed' lifes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It fits perfectly with Renewed Masterpieces, and that why I picked the salvation army to collect money for in 2021.
So where did the money go?
I contacted my former work location, which is a residential care home for people who suffer from addictions and mental problems, who mainly would be homeless without the help of the Salvation Army. I asked them if I could help them with a donation for a specific thing which is on the wishlist, and since the whole livingroom is updated, they were happy with some form of a game/entertainment. So from the donation they have bought an electric dartboard set!
The rest of the money which was still left I donated to a fund of the Salvation Army, which is focused on food providing on the streets, for people in need.
As I know the residents and the workers of the care home very well I can say they are very happy with the gift we gave!
So from them and me a very big thank you to all of you!
Thank you so much for buying my furniture pieces, giving furniture a chance to shine again in a new life, but also giving people a chance to a new, better life.
